AIDS Activists Organize

After meeting in Washington, D. C. in association with the March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, AIDS activists from throughout the country have announced new national network of AIDS organizations involved in protests, lobbying efforts, civil disobedience demonstrations, and community organizing.
The Network is organizing nine days of nation-wide protest and actions on April 29 through May 7, the Spring AIDS Action '88. Through grassroots organizing, communities nation-wide will coordinate their efforts on the following issues, culminating in a National Day of test:

Participants are encouraged to unify behind the stated goals of the AIDS Action Pledge, which pledges signers to engage in nonviolent civil disobedience or other protests demand massive AIDS funding for: local to world-wide educational programs, programs, coordinated research, a National health care program, public accountability of AIDS programs, and an end to quarantine, mandatory testing and discrimination against People with AIDS.
